What’s so great about Summer Camp?

There are
certainly opportunities available at camp that you will never find in most
schools.

There are so many benefits of sending children to summer camp. Spending
time at summer camp provides the opportunity to indulge in lots of different activities
that help children use their minds and bodies creatively. It can be stimulating
for children to get away from the TV and their cell phones and learn to engage and interact with other children their own
age. Cell phones have made children somewhat anti-social and they have forgotten
the many pleasures of being active and inter-acting with other children their age.
Activities are endless at overnight summer camp and everything has been designed with
children and teenagers in mind.

Overnight camp can be a wonderful
growing experience for children, simply because it provides new challenges. It
presents opportunities for children to make new friends and get support from other children with similar
values. Your child may not be willing to try new things in front of you, but
living away from home poses new experiences and will require some risk
taking. Parents will however be assured
that their children will be safe and secure at all times.

Summer campers learn to work with others in their cabin group. They work
as a team with those in their cabin. Even simple activities such as
co-ordinating songs and dance require putting views forward and coming up with
the best solutions. During overnight camp, the excellent activities and high staff
to child ratio make these summer camps a life-enhancing experience. Character
is built, and self-awareness, confidence and independence are other
characteristics which are developed with every child lucky enough to attend
these boredom-free camps.

From the moment children arrive at camp, they will have the opportunity to hone
their communication skills because they are required to work with their team
and their mentors. They will be sharing information about themselves and in
order to get things done. Without the distractions of technology, campers also
start realizing that there are other thoughts and opinions from real people
that will require taking note of.

Summer camp teaches children new values and skills. Not only that, because children
keep moving, for children who are overweight, staying active will keep their focus
off food, Doing fun activities such as swimming, sailing, hiking, tennis,
paintball, riding, surfing – you name it – keeps young minds off food just as a
means to keeping busy. Many of these activities are actually designed to teach
teamwork and, overnight summer camp promotes the value
of children interacting with each other.

For boys and girls, the experience of overnight summer camp goes beyond just endless fun
and games. There is a serious side to camp life as well and campers learn
character-building skills and also develop deep friendships that can last a
lifetime.

When you decide on which summer camp to send your children to, there are a
number of factors to consider. The location is very important, especially if
your child is a surfer and loves the sea. The type of camp, whether it is
accredited, and the ages of the campers are all points that must be considered.
Of course if you find it important, and many parents do, there are also gender-specific
camps as well as camps geared towards different cultures..
Everything is designed to ensure that your child fits in well and emerges from overnight summer
camp a far more mature and responsible person.

Certainly America has made young people the world over super-envious with their
excellent and thrilling summer camp culture. Summer camps are all about children
having the time of their lives while developing exceptional characteristics
such as independence and caring. If your children have a need, summer camp has the
solution.
