How to Pack for Summer Camp (Teen/Tween Girls)

Going to camp is a great experience and can create great memories. But unless you feel extremely comfortable with your body and image you will feel like you need to make adjustments. This article will give you some pointers from experience to help you out.

1.     Dress for comfort and confidence. As for clothing, you want to feel confident in the clothes you wear. Pack your favorite outfit and clothes that you do not mind getting dirty or wet. Also, remember to bring the basics like socks and underwear.

2.     Comfortable clothing. Bring shorts and/or capri pants. You should bring a decent amount to get you through the camp session. Remember that if the clothing material is sturdy, you may be able to re-wear it as long as it it smells acceptable and isn't dirty. Pack an extra pair of jeans for emergencies. Bermuda shorts are a great choice. They're an acceptable length and are sure to abide by any dress code. In terms of variety it's wise to bring:
  • Denim shorts.
  • Bermuda shorts.
  • Athletic shorts.
  • Soffe shorts make for great swimsuit covers, and to sleep in since they're comfortable and light.

3.     You're at camp to have fun and be active, not to model your entire wardrobe, so bring clothes that are great for activities and don't worry about looking like a mannequin.

4.    Blouses: As for tops, just remember to be comfortable. Keep it simple, be yourself, be natural and there will be nothing to worry about. Most likely, you will end up with a ton of people as carefree as you laughing at the girls in the corner trying to fix their mascara. Wear what you want, no one at camp cares that you are in a baggy t-shirt, but they do care that you are excellent bonfire maker, and are great at making friends.

5.    Shoes: Bring at least one pair of flip flops that will be cute and comfortable. Sneakers are very important, either running athletic shoes or things like converse or vans: stylish but you are able to be more comfortable with doing activities as opposed to wearing flip flops.

6.    Hair: Hair should be natural but cute and fun. Perhaps a high ponytail, or natural and down. Bring lots of ponytail holders and stretchy headbands for those sporty activities (bobby pins also help keep bangs out of your face), and if you must, bring a straightener. A curler is not recommended, because you won't need to look fancy unless you are going to a church camp and attending a night service. Hairspray, wave enhancer, and other hair appliances that you normally use would be fine also.

7.    Makeup. Makeup is unnecessary and you are probably going to do way too many sweat inducing activities to wear makeup. If you bring makeup, plan on using it sparingly, possibly a little eye makeup, a light foundation if you want, and lip gloss or neutral lipstick.
